The Limited Service Technician collects, receives and processes a variety of laboratory specimens while properly assessing work priorities.
Responsibilities:
1. Receives and processes a variety of laboratory specimens while properly assessing work priorities. 2. Communicates with the hospital staff regarding specimen requirements, ordering, and miscellaneous requests. 3. Performs a limited number of basic laboratory tests. 4. Follows hospital policies and procedures. 5. Identifies patient. Collects, labels, and delivers biological specimens. Age Specific, developmentally appropriate approach to patients 6. Monitors quality control and recognizes need for corrective action. 7. Performs tasks efficiently. Maintains work area to include necessary maintenance. 8. Other duties as required.
Other information:
Technical Expertise 1. Experience in a laboratory setting is /preferred. 2. Experience as a medical laboratory scientist major/medical laboratory intern of Akron Cooperative Medical Laboratory Science Program is preferred. 3. Experience working with all levels within an organization is required. 4. Experience in healthcare is preferred. 5. Ability to interact effectively with computers and keyboards is required.
Education and Experience 1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Preference will be given to students pursuing education for a career in Medical Laboratory Science. 2. Certification: None. 3. Years of relevant experience: 0 to 2 years is preferred. 4. Years of experience supervising: None.
