The Department of Pathology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine seeks a full-time non-tenure-eligible Clinician-Educator at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor to fill the role of Medical Director of Blood Bank at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The Department of Pathology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine seeks a full-time non-tenure-eligible Clinician-Educator at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor to fill the role of Medical Director of Blood Bank at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. In addition to the general requirements for faculty appointments and ranking, responsibilities include:
Medical oversight of pre-transfusion compatibility testing and transfusion safety for FDA-registered transfusion service
Guidance of proper blood use and patient blood management practices
Transfusion medicine consultations including immunohematological problems and transfusion adverse events
Program director of ACGME-accredited Blood Bank/Transfusion Medicine fellowship in McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University
Assistance in medical coverage for NMH Hemostasis Laboratory and Lurie Children’s Hospital transfusion service
The start date is negotiable, and the position will remain open until it is filled.
The expected base pay range for this position is $200,000 - $365,000
dependent on rank, years of experience, leadership roles, and other academic factors
Northwestern University has provided a pay range representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for the position. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including years since terminal degree, training, and field or discipline; departmental budget availability; internal comparators; and external market pay for comparable jobs.

Qualified candidates will hold MD or MD/PhD degrees; be board certified in CP or AP/CP from the American Board of Pathology; and be board certified in Transfusion Medicine by the American Board of Pathology. Candidates must be eligible for an unrestricted medical license in the State of Illinois. Rank and remuneration determined by qualifications and experience.
