Position Overview
The Cytologist is responsible for preparing, screening, and evaluating non-gynecologic cytology specimens (e.g., body fluids, fine needle aspirations, and other non-cervical samples) to detect cellular abnormalities, infections, inflammatory processes, and malignancies. The cytologist works closely with pathologists to provide accurate and timely diagnostic information to guide patient care.
Perform microscopic evaluation of gynecologic and non?gynecologic specimens to detect cellular abnormalities
Collaborate closely with Pathologists and multidisciplinary clinical teams
Utilize advanced laboratory information systems and modern cytology instrumentation
Participate in quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and continuous quality improvement initiatives
Contribute to a department that values accuracy, autonomy, and professional expertise
Bachelor’s degree in Cytotechnology or a related life science
ASCP Certification (CT) required (or eligible with certification obtained within a defined timeframe)
Strong attention to detail and commitment to diagnostic accuracy
Ability to work effectively in a fast?paced, high?quality laboratory environment
Prior hospital or reference lab experience preferred (new graduates encouraged to apply)
