PRIMARY FUNCTION: To clean, inspect, sterilize and decontaminate instruments for the Operating Room and other ancillary departments. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Follows instrument decontamination procedures, according to the checklist and guidelines. Operates cleaning equipment (i.e. ultrasonic cleaner, washer decontaminators, cart washer), including all sterilization equipment and the cart lift. Identifies, removes and replaces broken and improperly functioning surgical instruments.
