Medical Instrument Tech (Gastroenterology)
The Gastroenterology Technician collects, processes, and labels all specimens; trains other technicians (depending on level) in basic endoscopic procedures; works in and outside the GI unit offering tech support during emergent and on-call endoscopic cases; and assists the nurse in patient care duties such as obtaining vital signs, dressing and documenting all pertinent information in the patient's records; inventories and maintains par levels of specialty equipment for the endoscopy unit. The Medical Instrument Tech (Gastroenterology) is a member of the Ambulatory Surgery Unit team and performs the technical role.
