Atlantic Health System is currently seeking a Part Time Clinical Lab Assistant II for our Atlantic Consolidated Laboratory in Morris Plains to work in the Microbiology department from 9pm - 5am three days per week and every other weekend.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities of Position:
Receives and processes specimen within the laboratory. Assists with materials management and quality control procedures. Uses basic instrumentation and performs preventative maintenance.
Receive and sort clinical lab specimen
Prepare specimens for testing and analysis
Scan and/or data entry of specimen and patient information
Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform instrument maintenance
Troubleshoot any specimen related issues
Replenish test bench supplies as needed
Maintain a clean work environment
Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested
Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards
Prepare specimen for testing following Standard Operating Procedures
Perform testing on trained processes following Standard Operating Procedures
Assist in ordering supplies and maintaining up to date inventory
Minimum Education Required:
High school diploma or equivalent
AAS degree preferred
Minimum Experience Required:
Previous microbiology lab experience preferred
Comfortable with handling biological specimen
Ability to accurately identify specimen
Basic computer knowledge
High level attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
Ability to work in a fast paced environment and meet established turn-around times
Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
