Job Summary

Prepares, participates in and is responsible for department achieving reviews (TJC, CLIA)

Supervises the maintenance of section policies and procedures to provide direction to staff

Supervises and oversees the training of chemistry, hematology, coagulation and urinalysis staff and students.

Maintains knowledge in automation area of laboratory to assist staff members in performing their jobs to include working in lab sections.

Utilizes and teaches accepted procedures and techniques for processing, testing, quality control and troubleshooting

Oversees and monitors the automation sections for education, competency and proficiency.

Monitors quality control to assure accuracy of results

Assigns Proficiency testing with complete oversight of review and action plans.

Directs training of staff to provide quality results in area of automation

Monitors accuracy and precision of laboratory tests

Documents nonconforming events and submits to director for follow up actions

Serves as Technical resource person in automation sections of laboratory.

Assists in monitoring of client compliance to laboratory standards in automation and documents and reports to higher management.

Evaluates new technology and methodology per request of laboratory management.

Have understanding of laboratory computer system to establish and verify documented results in system.

Attends meeting per Director�s request

Assists in annual evaluation of the automation staff.

Required

Minimum Education: Bachelor�s degree in Medical Microbiology with State and ASCP license.

Minimum Experience: 3-5 years in acute care hospital laboratory

Preferred:

Quality control, TJC standards and quality assurance of laboratory.
