The Department of Radiological Sciences in the David Geffen School of Medicine is recruiting for a full-time Professor to join the faculty in a tenured position in Medical Informatics.The position will serve as a core faculty member in biomedical informatics training on campus and for the Department.
Candidates must possess a Ph.D. degree related to computer science, biomedical informatics and/or a related discipline, a record of competitive extramural funding from multiple agencies, interdisciplinary collaboration, and a publication record in these areas. Experience in building and validating computational pipelines to integrate and analyze imaging and non-imaging data using novel artificial intelligence (AI)/machine learning (ML) techniques is required. Evidence of development of algorithms to improve the reproducibility and interpretability of AI/ML models, the use of novel ML and reinforcement learning techniques to extract biological information, the ability to provide actionable insights from multimodal data, and the ability to pursue applications of AI/ML within healthcare environments are also required. Candidates must be able to demonstrate extensive experience managing technical teams to establish computational resources for the collection, integration, and curation of clinical, imaging, and molecular data. Candidates should hold a position of Assistant or Associate professor, with a minimum of six years of service. A history of involvement in national and international informatics initiatives, and of promoting equity and diversity in informatics are essential. A collegial attitude and commitment to teamwork as a means to growth of Medical Informatics is highly favored.
