This opportunity is:
Location: Memphis, TN 38134
Days: Monday - Friday
Hours: 8 am- 4:30 pm
Full-time: Benefit Eligible
In this role, you will:
- Perform a vital part of the patient care process through examining prepared slides with the microscope to detect evidence of abnormalities
- Report negative Pap Test cases and refers abnormal cases to the pathologists for review
- May read Non-GYN specimens and report findings to the pathologists for final diagnosis
- Document for each 24-hour period, the total number of slides examined or reviewed in the laboratory or for any other employer.
- Perform embedding and microtomy.
- Perform automated IHC/ISH and special staining, employing different staining platforms (Ventana, Leica, etc.).
- Test and validate new antibodies.
- Analyze and troubleshoot equipment related issues.
- Maintain quality control and assurance records.
- Performs and documents preventative maintenance.
- Document the number of hours spent examining slides in each 24-hour period.
- Work in a fast-paced laboratory environment
- Champion safety, compliance, and quality control
All you need is:
- CT Certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP)
- Tennessee Licensing
- HT or HTL Certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP)
- Strong critical thinking, complex problem-solving, judgment, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to operate general laboratory equipment, including but not limited to: telephones, computers, automated instruments, microscopes, microtomes, and audible alarms
