Position Overview:

The Infection Preventionist conducts targeted infection surveillance activities, including investigations and responses to outbreaks among patients and/or personnel. They recommend and teach appropriate preventative measures to control infections, ensuring compliance with regulations and accreditation standards. This role has a focus on High Level Disinfection and involves, monitoring infection trends, educating staff, and collaborating with regulatory bodies to uphold organizational safety and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

* Conduct targeted infection surveillance activities, including outbreak investigations and responses.

* Recommend and teach preventative measures to control infection spread.

* Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and standards related to infection control.

* Collaborate with regulatory and accrediting agencies to maintain compliance.

* Monitor infection data and trends, analyzing performance to inform improvement strategies.

* Educate staff on infection prevention practices and organizational policies.

* Promote a culture of safety and continuous infection control improvement.

Qualifications & Requirements:

* Education:

- Associates degree or higher in a healthcare-related field required.

- Knowledge of nursing and medical procedures; microbiology, infectious disease, epidemiology, asepsis, and immunology preferred.

* Experience:

- 3-5 years of experience in healthcare or a related field is preferred.

- Prior experience in infection control preferred.

* Licensure & Certifications:

- Knowledge of local, state, and national infection control regulations and standards.

- National certification in infection control (e.g., CIC) preferred within 3 years from the date of hire.
