We’re seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and hard-working ASCP Certified Laboratory Technician to join our incredible Team.
What you get to do:
Use your experience as a Certified Medical Technician (MLT) to assist in performing laboratory analyses in hematology, chemistry, microbiology, mycology, parasitology, urinalysis and cytology.
Independently conduct daily analyses on water samples from our animals’ habitats. Training provided.
Assist in preparing, packaging and shipping out samples to reference laboratories for additional diagnostics tests.
Accurately keep manual and digital records of clinical and research samples, tests, and results.
Keep inventory of laboratory reagents and supplies.
Maintain laboratory equipment, making sure they meet quality control standards.
Ensure excellent animal care service by responding to Team's requirements, expectations, and needs.
Follow laboratory procedures according to federal, state, and local regulations.
Other related duties as assigned, including assisting in other areas of the hospital as needed.
What it takes to succeed:
Being a certified medical laboratory technician (MLT).
Working knowledge of laboratory instrumentation, including quality control (QC), preventative maintenance (PM) and troubleshooting.
Working knowledge of hematology, chemistry and microbiology analyses.
Ability to prepare laboratory reports and enter results in digital medical records.
Ability to handle multiple tasks at once and work in a dynamic fast-paced work environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Basic computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft applications, spreadsheets, and databases.
Ability to sit, walk, talk, use hands, hear, smell and have color vision. Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
Work indoors with moderate noise from several large and small laboratory instruments, as well as refrigeration and freezer units.
Work with limited exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and radiation. Protective equipment is provided when necessary.
Able to positively interact with park guests and co-workers of all ages, different ethnic/cultural backgrounds and/or language, and individuals with special needs.

Education and experience
A bachelor’s or an associate degree.
Certified medical technician (MLT) is a minimum requirement.
Registered with the American Society for Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) is a minimum requirement.
At least 2 years of working experience, as a graduate, medical laboratory technician.
Experience in animal laboratory diagnostics preferred but not required.
