Location: Rye Brook, NY

Hours: 10:00pm - 6:30am; Monday - Friday (shift differential available)

Full-time: Benefit Eligible

In this role, you will:

• Perform all technical aspects of grossing using a variety of laboratory materials and equipment.

• Ensures specimen integrity upon arrival and throughout the entire process.

• Enters a gross description for each specimen including, but not limited to anatomical site, size, color, weight, dimensions, count, volume, cut techniques, abnormal findings, dissects and prepares tissue for cassettes.

• Escalates non-routine complicated specimens to a Grossing Tech II, Supervisor or Pathologist.

• Maintains accurate work records.

• Prepares dissected tissue specimens and place into cassettes.

• Performs Quality Control and Quality Assurance Procedures.

• May label requisitions, specimen containers, and cassettes.

• Maintains laboratory equipment and tracks all routine maintenance and quality controls performed.

• Operates, cleans, and sterilizes laboratory equipment, glassware, instruments and workstation.

• Disposes of hazardous chemical wastes per regulatory guidelines.

• Maintains strictest confidentiality.

• Complies with all State, Federal, professional regulations as well as company and departmental rules, polices, and procedural manuals.

All you need is:

• Completion of one of the following: Associates degree in biology or chemistry or successful completion of a NAACLS accredited histotechnology program or Associates degree with 12 semester hours of biology or chemistry.

• New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist/Technician or Histological Technician license.

This role will have routine access to Protected Health Information (PHI). Salary starting $40.00 - $48.00 per hour. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply.
