Performs clinical testing in at least two of the following departments: Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, or Microbiology. Staff who work second or third shifts must be competent in all areas mentioned above. Receives specimens, performs clinical testing, understands method principles, performs quality controls and instrument maintenance, and interprets results as to accuracy, acceptability and critical limits.
Education
Bachelors Degree.
Licensure/Certification
Nationally recognized clinical laboratory science certification, credentials or equivalent within 12 months of hire required.
Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Microbiology experience preferred. Accurate performance and collection of tests while maintaining patient confidentiality. Reasoning ability and good independent judgment. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Strong communication skills. Willingness to work different shifts, weekends, and/or holidays. Ability to work under stress and contribute to the team environment.
