One Brooklyn Health (OBH) - Brookdale Hospital Medical Center's Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is seeking two full-time AP/CP or AP-only board-certified Pathologists for surgical pathology/cytopathology positions.

The Pathologist is to be responsible for performing tests, laboratory work, and pathological research if needed. The pathologist’s duties will include analyzing bodily fluids and tissue samples to study, diagnose, and treat disease. They will work in various medical settings and patient tests in order to assist fellow medical professionals in their diagnoses. 

Responsibilities:

• Performing specimen analysis by using laboratory tools and equipment, in order to study samples
  and perform tests to accurately analyze bodily fluids and tissue specimens.
• Performing gross description of pathological specimens, microscopic evaluation and ancillary studies
  as indicated to render the final diagnosis.
• Looking for abnormalities in samples that evidence disease and conveying this information to the
  relevant medical practitioner.
• Using checklists, medical software, and retesting to get thorough and precise results.
  Suggesting potential treatment options as indicated.
• Writing pathology reports detailing specimens results of tests, and the final diagnosis.
  Perform and report frozen section diagnosis.
• Perform autopsies if required.
• Undertaking research to improve identification and testing methods and finding innovative ways to
  treat disease.
• Staying up to date with developments in the fields of pathology and medical practice.
  Presenting interdepartmental conferences such as tumor boards when required.

Job Requirements:

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
• Four (4) to seven (7) years’ internship and residency training, specializing in pathology.
• Successful completion of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE)
• Valid and active NY license to practice as a physician
• Certification by The American Board of Pathology in pathology and/or a sub-specialty.

Experience:

Relevant experience and diagnostic skill.
