As part of our Lab Transformation Project and due to continued growth, Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC)'s Diagnostic Anatomic Laboratories, is seeking to hire Clinical Laboratory Associates (CLA)'s for our main campus in Nashville, Tennessee. Our Diagnostic Anatomic Pathology laboratories include Pathology Support, Histotechnology, Cytotechnology, and Anatomic Pathology "Gross Room". The CLA has responsibilities for accessioning specimens or patient tissue materials for testing, including packaging specimens or tissue materials to be sent out to referring laboratory with minimal guidance. The CLA works closely with all laboratory staff, medical staff, and external customers. The CLA performs customer service functions including telephone etiquette and basic troubleshooting and problem resolution.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Receives and triages specimens.
*Prepares specimens and patient materials for shipping.
*Provides general clerical support.

Position Qualifications:
Required:
*High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience) (Required)
*1 year relevant experience (Required)

*Diagnostic laboratory exposure with high volume automated specimen handling systems, as part of the qualitative and quantitative analysis of human specimens
*Attention to detail, ability to work well under pressure with tight turnaround times, and ability to adapt in a diverse, team-based culture
*Demonstrated ability to deploy collaborative customer service tactics in a effective manner that generates resolution and overcomes challenges with teammates, internal, and external customers; while maintaining harmony
*Minimum of 2 years diagnostic laboratory experience with high volume specimen receiving, handling, accessioning, and processing
