Atlantic Health System is seeking a full-time Laboratory Operations Manager for Anatomic Pathology at the Atlantic Consolidated Laboratory in Morris Plains NJ to work 9am - 5pm Monday - Friday.
Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Laboratory Director, the Anatomic Pathology (AP) Laboratory Operations Manager will coordinate and oversee a wide variety of administrative, personnel and technical activities and is responsible for the daily operations of the Histology, IHC and Cytology Laboratory including the Gross Room and Pathology Clerical support areas (Transcription). The AP Manager will actively integrate the entire Anatomic Pathology functions throughout the department on all shifts and will be responsible for organization of the departmental workflow to result in optimum efficiency utilizing appropriate metrics to maximize the departmental operational efficiencies.
Responsible for anatomic pathology lab operations
Evaluates, develops and implements new technical procedures to ensure accurate and efficient delivery of services
Develops and implements policies and procedures as necessary to maintain high level of functioning in assigned area
Maintains established technical and operational standards to ensure compliance with hospital standards and licensing and accrediting agencies
Manages staff of first line supervisors and lead technologists and may assume responsibility for the absence of appropriate supervisory staff
Communicates with storage facility vendors regarding storage of slides; supervises slide room team and transcription staff
Responsible for all departmental statistics, and coordinates collection and preparation as required
Responsible for the oversight of anatomic / surgical pathology lab operation, anatomic laboratory QA, and all accrediting agency inspections including those for NJDOH, CLIA, CAP, etc
Compares and administers departmental budgets, coordinate objectives and goals designed to improve the fiscal and organizations operation of the laboratory
Maintain professional working relationships with all other departments through proper communication techniques
Resolves problems by consulting with pathologists, other laboratory managers, technical coordinators, laboratory director, and customer care team
Coordinates regularly scheduled team meetings with department supervisors, leads and staff; establishes other communication pathways and reviews for effectiveness
Maintains medical laboratory productivity by monitoring workload of functional areas; identifying peak and slack periods; making operational or staffing adjustments
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree in medical technology, or in a physical, chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory science and 6+ years in high complexity testing in CLIA/CAP environment
Masters Degree (MBA, MHA, MS) preferred
Minimum Experience:
Minimum of six (6) years clinical laboratory experience which is inclusive of three (3) years of laboratory supervisory experience
Decision making substantiated by in depth knowledge of laboratory procedures, principles and instruments
Comprehensive knowledge of procedures, policies and equipment in Anatomic Pathology
License/Certification:
ASCP certification or equivalent required
HTL (ASCP)/ PA (ASCP) preferred
