Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC)'s Tullahoma-Harton County Hospital (VTHH) is seeking to hire a Medical Lab Technician (MLT),
whom will report to the VUMC Tullahoma-Harton County Hospital Diagnostic Labs, Diagnostic Laboratory Team Leaders (DLTL)'s, and whom will have responsibility for performing routine clinical pathology testing and instrument management of laboratory services under occasional guidance. This is an exciting and dynamic laboratory at the cutting edge of patient care, providing applicants with the opportunity to learn and develop new technologies and diagnostics, including ongoing cross-training within our diagnostic labs - which includes Core, Clinical Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Hematology, Serology, and Blood Bank benches. Additional responsibilities include routine diagnostics testing; assisting with development, validation, and implementation of new clinical tests; equipment maintenance; quality improvements, and training of MLS students, staff, pathology residents, and clinical fellows.

VUMC is an academic medicine environment, providing team members frequent interaction with clinical teams and exposure to complex and novel infectious cases.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Provides patient-focused care in a clinical setting through the accurate performance of routine and complex tests through the pre-analytic, analytic and post-analytic stages.
*Performs qualitative and quantitative analytical procedures, including reagent preparation and appropriate quality control, according to required protocols, with precision and accuracy in a timely and efficient manner.
*Demonstrates knowledge of techniques, principles, and instruments and their interrelationships as well as physiological conditions affecting test results.
*The responsibilities listed are a general overview of the position and additional duties may be assigned.

Position Qualifications
Required:
*MLT (ASCP) certification or equivalent certification, or equivalent education and experience as defined by CLIA for individuals performing moderate/high complexity testing. Substitution of experience for education not permitted. Allowed 120 days to obtain State of Tennessee license. Considered 'in training' prior to license approval. Associate's Degree (or equivalent experience) in laboratory science or Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) from an accredited institution, or Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university with a major in biological, chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory science. *< 1 year relevant experience (Required)

Desired:
*Prior diagnostic laboratory Core and/or Blood Bank benchwork with high volumes and demanding turnaround times
