Children's Minnesota is the 7th largest pediatric health system in the United States and the only health system in Minnesota to provide care exclusively to children, from before birth through young adulthood. With more than 60 specialties, Children's Minnesota has the largest and broadest team of Kids ExpertsTM in our region.

 

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Children's Minnesota is seeking a BC/BE pathologist with fellowship training in neuropathology. Additional expertise or interest in pediatric pathology or another area of anatomic pathology is welcome.

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Children's Minnesota receives approximately 10,000 surgical and cytology specimens and processes nearly 1 million laboratory tests per year. We have a very collegial and collaborative work environment and enjoy a close consultative relationship with all clinical and surgical services.

The group currently includes 6 pathologists, 2 physicians who oversee transfusion medicine services, a full-time pathologist assistant and an excellent histology staff. Current subspecialties coverage includes pediatric pathology, clinical microbiology, molecular pathology and hematopathology.

POSITION SUMMARY

Our service currently averages 50-75 cases annually, but is expected to grow significantly over the next 2-3 years following completion of a new iMRI suite on our Minneapolis campus (expected late 2023). Participation on the neuropathology portions of our autopsy service would be welcome

  • Must have an M.D., D.O. with a current Minnesota Medical License or the ability to obtain one
  • BC/BE in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic and Clinical Pathology
  • BC/BE in Neuropathology
  • Interest or experience in leadership in areas within the laboratory are welcome
