Labcorp is seeking a Medical Lab Technician to join its team in Tampa, FL! This position will be working in the Serology/Immunohematology department.  Duties include opening the department, running QC, entering logs, running and releasing specimen results, replenishing supplies, troubleshooting equipment, notifying vendors and supervisor of instrumentation issues, and general clean-up of benches.

The schedule for the position will be: Tuesday - Saturday, 1:00AM - 930AM. 17% shift differential offered for 3rd shift!

Responsibilities:

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Requirements:

• Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements
• Florida State Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) license, OR ASCP, AMT or ABB certification (must also be able to pass a standardized color vision screening).
• The ability to work independently and within a team environment
• A high level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skill
