Methodist Hospitals is currently seeking candidates to perform STAT and routine laboratory testing, including all necessary clerical and technical functions by following general and specific technical policies and procedures. The successful candidate will assist the supervisor in various management functions and work as a Charge Tech when needed.
The Medical Technologist II - Micro has these duties and responsibilities:
Perform all moderate and highly complex laboratory procedures.
Perform routine and preventive maintenance procedures and troubleshoot as necessary.
Perform instrument assays and calibrations as required. May be assigned key operator role.
Perform Quality Control Procedures and evaluate QC data.
Participate in CMS Mandated Proficiency Testing and Educational Requirements.
Follow Laboratory / Hospital Policies, Procedures, Practices, and Protocols as intended. Perform Periodic Review of Policies and Procedures as required.
Oversee MLT Students Clinical Rotation as assigned.
Participate in Inventory Management and Optimal Resource Utilization.
Assist in collecting data for the Performance Improvement Plan.
Assist in evaluation of new Testing Protocols.
Prepare department schedules and work assignments as needed.
Assist in the Competency Assessment Program at the discretion of the Medical Director.
Assist in various management functions and work as a Charge Tech when needed.
Qualifications:
Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in medical technology or related sciences from an accredited institution. Candidates who have been working as lab techs prior to the effective CLIA date (1988) and have passed the HEW certification may be considered eligible to meet the educational and certification requirement. Two years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting is required.
Required professional certification: MT (ASCP), CLS (NCA), or equivalent.
