Academic Gastrointestinal/Liver Pathologist

Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at the University of Vermont

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine of The Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at the University of Vermont (UVM) is seeking an academic pathologist for a full-time faculty appointment on the Clinical Scholar Pathway (non-tenure) at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor academic rank. Board eligibility or certification in Anatomic Pathology is required. The candidate must possess fellowship training and/or 5+ years of post-residency experience focused on gastrointestinal and liver pathology. Additionally, departmental leadership opportunities can be discussed based on experience and interest. The candidate will join fellowship- trained and experienced gastrointestinal pathologists in the Division of Anatomic Pathology at the University of Vermont Medical Center, which is the academic hospital in the UVM Health Network. The Department serves as a regional reference laboratory for Vermont, upstate New York, and upstate New Hampshire, and has approximately 45,000 surgical pathology specimens annually. The candidate should be committed to education of medical students, residents, and surgical pathology fellows. The candidate is expected to pursue scholarly activities and/or clinical research and should provide a description of their academic work and future plans in their cover letter.

The University is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their research, teaching and/or service. Applicants are requested to include in their cover letter information about how they will further this goal. The University of Vermont is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other category legally protected by federal or state law. The University encourages applications from all individuals who will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the institution.

Burlington is a New England university city situated on the shores of beautiful Lake Champlain to the west, and bordered by the Green Mountains to the east, both of which offer easy access to year-round outdoor recreational activities/sports. Burlington is within driving distance to major US and Canadian cities and was recently voted one of the top ten most desirable cities in the USA to raise a family. In 2018, Vermont was ranked the #1 “best place to live in America” by an annual CNBC report measuring quality of life across the country.

Please prepare an introductory cover letter summarizing your qualifications, expertise and career path interests, a curriculum vitae, and names and contact information for three references. Please also provide a separate statement describing your prior contributions and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusive excellence. Please apply online at www.uvmjobs.com and reference posting # F2101PO. Review of applications will begin immediately. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled; however, we strongly encourage the submission of application materials by February 15, 2023.
