The Environmental Health Institute:The Project Manager will work on multiple studies in the Geisinger and the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health Environmental Health Institute (EHI). The EHI team is dedicated to understanding how where people live effects their health. The team studies the built, social, and natural environment in relation to a range of diseases, including diabetes, respiratory conditions, sinus disease, Lyme disease, and SARS-CoV-2. Serves in the senior role for management of research projects including protocol development and implementation, regulatory submissions and adherence, project planning, project tracking and reporting, team management, study finances, data collection and quality, and assisting in the creation of publications. Responsible for assisting with the development and management of new projects. Secondary responsibilities assisting with new proposals for research and for presentation to funding sources.
Job Duties
Works with principal investigator and research team to implementresearch studies.
Develops and manages study budgets.
Assists in developing complex study budgets, financial planning and preparing annual departmental and study budgets, as applicable.
Responsible for all regulatory documents and reporting requirements of studies.
Coordinates and conducts self-audits of studies to ensure regulatory compliance and reports findings to the IRB and Office of Research Compliance.
Develops, implements and manages protocols.
Responsible for leading implementation of a project plan and for overall project management including directing and mentoring the research staff, management of the study team, progress tracking and reporting, quality control, recruitment and enrollment, and research support staff training and management.
Serves as senior manager of all research project-related activities to meet project goals and milestones, based on study design.
Communicates resource needs, issues, project status and milestones met to project team, research investigators and key stakeholders.
Develops and delivers study specific material Hires, trains and supervises project staff.
Anticipates problems and implements preventative action.
Handles sensitive project and personnel issues and provides resolution.
Prepares data dictionaries and coordinators data management, data security and implementation of quality control procedures with data team.
Assists in writing proposals for funded studies.
With the research investigator, leads grant application and contract request submissions, and contributes to negotiations.
Provides pre and post award project management.
Prepares final reports for sponsors and study manuscripts for publication with review by the research investigator.
