SIGN ON BONUS - $5,000

General Statement of Duties: Performs pre-analytical accessioning and labeling of specimens for the Clinical laboratory sections. Assists with specimen processing in non-critical areas of the Laboratory. Assists with non-licensed work in the General laboratory.

Physical Demands: Requires a full range of motion including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Frequent standing, walking and sitting for long periods of time is required. Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 lbs. Requires visual acuity and normal color perception.

Working Conditions: Exposure to communicable diseases and toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a medical group and laboratory environment

Responsibilities: (This list may not contain all the duties assigned and can change)

o Manage in-house pending sample lists.

o Retrieve, store, and dispose of samples properly according to regulations.

o Centrifuge, aliquot and label specimens using best practice to ensure no identification errors.

o Assists with specimen processing if needed.

o Assist technicians and technologists with technical processes and testing procedures.

o Follow correct procedures and SOP's to ensure compliance.

o Replenish supplies as needed to maintain and effectively manage inventory.

o Maintains accurate and complete documentation for all testing, QC, and other materials.

o Assist colleagues with inventory control to ensure supplies are plentiful.

o Cap samples upon completion of testing and store in the correct area of the lab for ease of future recall.

o Unload samples from all instruments across different platforms and store correctly.

o Assist leadership to maintain inventory (counts, receipt, storage, etc.) documentation.

o Complete all refrigerator temperature charts as requested.

o Follow up with any outstanding accessions for in-house and send out labs.

o Assist technicians and technologists in loading samples on the analyzers and other technical process as needed.

o Performs related work as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of laboratory techniques to perform specimen processing. Knowledge of container and minimum volume requirements for testing. Knowledge of environmental conditions that effect or alter specimens and test results. Skill in labeling and dispersing specimens to the appropriate stations. Skill interacting with medical staff. Skill in using multiple computer systems and knowledge of how they work together.

Qualifications / Education:

* High School Graduate or equivalent.

* Previous laboratory experience preferred.

* Strong communication skills.

* Proficient in Microsoft Office.

* Strong computer skills.

Ability to multi-task
