Performs all the specific laboratory procedures involved in the preparation and performance of advanced reproductive technologies. Responsible for all specialized andrology procedures performed in the laboratory.
Job Duties
Performs Diagnostic Semen Analysis including anti-sperm antibodies and morphological assessment of Sperm.
Performs sperm cryopreservation for banking or back up for client depositors.
Prepares sperm using density gradient, swim up or simple wash for IVF or intrauterine inseminations.
Performs all routine quality control checks and participates in laboratory quality management.
Maintains all service records, calibration, calibration verification and preventive maintenance of laboratory equipment in laboratories.
Maintains all laboratory supplies and inventory.
Performs egg retrievals and standard insemination.
Performs denuding of eggs and Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) procedures for egg fertilization using micromanipulators.
Oversees fertilization checks and long-term culture of embryos (up to 6-days).
Performs morphological assessment, scoring of embryos and embryo transfer.
Performs the cryopreservation of eggs and embryos using vitrification procedures as well as thawing of them for frozen embryo transfer as per established laboratory protocols.
Completes embryo biopsy for preimplantation genetic diagnosis and preimplantation genetic screening purposes.
Monitors and maintains the embryo, oocyte and sperm storage in the liquid nitrogen tanks, their regular monitoring and maintaining inventory of the reproductive tissues in storage tanks.
Completes data entry in IVF lab database and Society of Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART) system.
Participates in research and development projects of the division under the laboratory director.
