Performs and reports various analyses from multiple specimen sources. Performs duties to provide the highest level of patient care and maximize patient satisfaction. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range on their assigned clinical area.

Job Duties

• Successful completion of initial and subsequent competency exams required.

Join our growing Molecular Diagnostic team at Geisinger! We're looking for a medical technologist with experience in good molecular technique/molecular testing (including varied PCR amplification/detection methodologies and next generation sequencing) to join our team of 10 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA. This position has no holiday rotation at this time.

 

This role will first learn PCR-based molecular testing and will then progress to next generation sequencing testing for solid tumor and hematology cancers. At Geisinger, we're continually developing new tests and therapies to provide cutting-edge, life-saving treatment to our patients, and this role will partner with technical experts and analytical specialists to develop and deploy these tests. Our ideal candidate will have a passion for technology, embrace change in a lab with continual and exponential growth, continuing education, and providing top-notch patient care. Our team is led by Dr. Yi Ding, MD, Ph D. and Andrew Campbell, PhD, HCLD (ABB).

Education Qualification and Details  

Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist: 

·        Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university AND successful completion of an ASCP/NAACLS-accredited Medical Technology program OR; 

·        Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university with a major in biological, chemical, physical or clinical laboratory science AND ASCP categorical certification OR; 

·        Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university with a major in biological, chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory science AND at least two years' experience in a role equivalent to that of a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) in a clinical laboratory
