Job Summary:

VUMC is seeking to hire a Phlebotomist 2, whom will have overall responsibilities for performing Phlebotomy and Customer Service with minimal guidance. The Phlebotomist 2 is responsible for accessioning specimens or patient tissue materials for testing including packaging specimens or tissue materials to be sent out to referring laboratory. The Phlebotomist 2 works closely with all laboratory staff, medical staff, and external customers. The Phlebotomist 2 performs customer service functions including telephone etiquette and basic troubleshooting and problem resolution.

Position Shift:

• Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:30pm

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience) (Required)
• 1 year relevant experience (Required)

Preferred:

• Three or more years of high volume venipuncture
• Phlebotomy ASCP certification

Key Responsibilities:

• Performs Phlebotomy to age specific guidelines.
• Receives and triages specimens.
• Prepares specimens and patient materials for shipping.
• Provides general clerical support.
