Job Summary

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking to hire several Medical Laboratory Scientists in our growing diagnostic Specialty Laboratories. This is an exciting and dynamic laboratory that is at the cutting edge of patient care, providing applicants with the opportunity to learn and develop new technologies and diagnostics in the Special Coagulation, Toxicology, and Special Chemistry areas. Job duties include highly complex clinical diagnostics testing; assisting with development, validation, and implementation of new clinical tests; equipment maintenance; quality improvements; and training of MLS students, staff, pathology residents, and clinical fellows.

The Medical Laboratory Scientist will perform routine clinical pathology testing under occasional guidance in a team atmosphere with the authority, responsibility, and accountability for accurate performance of laboratory test methodologies utilized in the diagnosis and treatment of patients, as well as evaluation of the patient's response to treatment. The Medical Laboratory Scientist applies their clinical knowledge to achieve accurate clinical test results that lead to quality patient care outcomes.

Position Shift:

• Full-time, budgeted approved for 40 hours per week, 1^st shift, Monday-Friday with every 3rd weekends
