JOB TITLE: Gross Room Biopsy Technician JOB SUMMARY: Biopsy technicians are allied health professionals responsible for the gross examination and dissection of biopsies and non-complex anatomic pathology specimens under the supervision (direct and indirect) of a pathologist. Other gross room and histology tasks may also be incorporated into the daily workflow. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: - Describing gross features of biopsies and other non-complex surgical specimens. - Dissecting said specimens and placing appropriate sections into properly labeled cassettes for optimal processing. - Following safety guidelines as set forth in applicable procedures. - Maintaining a clean working environment. - Loading tissue processors.
