POSITION SUMMARY:
The Clinical Laboratory Coordinator is responsible for oversite of all aspects of diagnostic laboratory testing of the Center's clinical laboratory. This individual will also assist with providing organizational support, centralized tracking & documenting of certain patient tests, and performance improvement around safety and survey preparation The Clinical Laboratory Coordinator is under the general supervision of the Chief Medical Officer
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
* Performs and reports laboratory tests according to laboratory policies/procedures
* Obtains and prepares specimens for testing including venipuncture and capillary blood sampling procedures
* Follows proper specimen labeling, handling, processing, storage, and disposal procedures
* Maintenance of lab licensure (CLIA Certificate/ State Registration) and compliance
* Responsible for lab related policies and procedures ensuring review for regulatory compliance and assisting with education and follow -up competencies with staff.
* Liaison between reference labs and Community Medical Centers
* Performs proficiency testing and quality controls and maintains quality assurance of all laboratory-related processes.
* Operates and maintains laboratory equipment in proper working order and use, and maintains testing materials and reagents as specified in the laboratory policy and procedure manual
* Maintains logs and data analysis reports (with action plans) for all lab related functions, including critical value and abnormal value reports.
* Documents and recovers data for quality assurance and performance improvement purposes
* Record entries in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) as appropriate and tasks providers and care teams when needed. Maintains MTS Database.
* Monitors supply inventory and orders laboratory supplies for all sites as needed
* Active in training, orientation, and skills assessment of staff using laboratory supplies. kills assessment.
* Provides training to medical assistants and other clinical staff as needed.
* Track Confidential Morbidity Report (CMR) ensuring reports to public health departments are sent and creating data reports for quality assurance
* Track CMR patients for any needed outreach, follow-up, or internal referrals
* Conducts program-related research as it relates to process improvement(s)
* Maintains compliance with blood borne pathogens, OSHA, infection control, hazardous materials program, and clinic policies and procedures
* Performs other duties as assigned or required
