Assistant Administrator Dir Lab – Operations

Santa Rosa, California

Assists Laboratory Manager in managing Laboratory functions in a medical center. Supervises all laboratory activities. Ensures staff provides high quality, accessible, cost-effective care, and patient focused services to members across the continuums, which comply with local, state, and federal requirements. Implements and maintains clinical practice standards, budgets, and staff development.

Essential Functions:

• Oversees laboratory operation.
• Ensures staff provides the quality of care and are in compliance with CAP, CLIA, The Joint Commission, AABB, NCQA, Title 22, federal, state, and local requirements.
• Assists manager in hiring, training evaluating, and maintaining the competency of the staff.
• Monitors workflow and turnaround time.
• Presents in-service programs.
• Monitors the quality control/assurance programs, test results, and equipment.
• Ensures tests are being completed according to approved procedures/policies.
• Identifies, develops, and implements processes to improve the quality of tests and services.
• Oversees the Safety Program, including Hazardous Waste Management and Chemical Hygiene Plan in Clinical and Anatomic Pathology services.
• Assists in developing, implementing, and maintaining service standards to meet members and internal client's expectations.
• Identifies and recommends opportunities to improve department systems.
• Collaborates with manager in resolving human resources, employee and department safety, and risk management issues.
• Consults with clients in resolving service issues.
• Recommends processes to correct the problems.
• Monitors budgets and resources allocations.
• Maintains staffing and supplies and identifies strategies to reduce costs, control utilization, and improve quality of care/service.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

• Minimum three (3) experience in a high volume acute care clinical laboratory required.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Clinical or related science required.

License, Certification, Registration

• California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License required. 

Additional Requirements

• Management experience required.
• Knowledge of CLIA, Title 22, CAP The Joint Commission, NCQA, AABB, local, state, federal regulations.
• Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• ASCP certification preferred.
