We’re searching for a faculty member to join Jefferson’s growing Cytotechnology program on our vibrant center city campus. Jefferson includes Thomas Jefferson University and Jefferson Health, a dynamic university and health system with broad reach across the Delaware Valley. Jefferson is the second largest employer in Philadelphia and the largest health system in Philadelphia based on total licensed beds.

Through the merger of Thomas Jefferson University and Philadelphia University in 2017, our University includes ten colleges and four schools. We are an NCAA Division II university and an R2 national doctoral university offering undergraduate and graduate-level programs that provide students with a forward-thinking education in architecture, business, design, engineering, fashion and textiles, health, medicine and social science.

Jefferson Health, the clinical arm of Thomas Jefferson University, has grown from a three-hospital academic health center in 2015, to an 18-hospital health system through mergers and combinations that include hospitals at Abington Health, Aria Health, Kennedy Health, Magee Rehabilitation and Einstein Healthcare Network. We have over 50 outpatient and urgent care centers; ten Magnet®-designated hospitals (recognized by the ANCC for nursing excellence); the NCI-designated Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center (one of only 70 in the country and one of only two in the region.)

The successful candidate for this position will provide lecture and laboratory instruction to Cytotechnology students working under the supervision of the Program Director.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with the offices of Admissions and Marketing for outreach and enrollment activities for the recruitment and retention of prospective students
  • Cooperate with the offices of Admissions and Student Affairs to coordinate, objectively assess and document the enrollment process of students as well as their retention and progression in agreement with University and Department-wide policies.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation for clinical affiliation agreements, clinical faculty inventory and clinical faculty appointments, that comply with program accreditation requirements.
  • Participate in the recruitment process of Faculty members and staff for the Program, in accordance with CAAHEP Standards and Guidelines for the Accreditation of Educational Programs in Cytotechnology
  • Participate in the Clinical Advisory Committee and other committees as appropriate

Education and Curricular Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Assist in graduate and undergraduate curriculum design, development, revision, implementation and evaluation.
  • Prepare course syllabi and manual(s), lesson plans, handbooks, visual and technical aids, study sets and/or case studies, pertinent instructional materials and evaluation instruments that are relevant for the discipline area and based on contemporary theory, practice and technology, including computer-assisted instruction and/or web-based learning platforms, as appropriate. Course preparation responsibilities include ensuring that reference copies of all instructional materials are centrally maintained and protected.
  • Direct lectures and laboratory sessions in the area of expertise at the graduate and undergraduate levels, and participate in MLSB core curriculum courses, as appropriate and necessary. Collaborate as necessary with clinical faculty for practical experience phases of training.  Observe, evaluate and record performance of students and provide supplemental and remedial training as required.
