NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem, located on 135th Street in Manhattan, is a designated Level 1 Trauma Center and is recognized for providing centers of excellence in the areas of Bariatric Surgery, Breast Imaging and Sexual Assault Forensics. Our teams provide services for nearly 213,000 outpatient visits, more than 83,000 emergency room visits and over 13,000 inpatient admissions annually. The hospital maintains an academic affiliation with Columbia University Medical Center.

 

We are currently seeking an experience Chair of Service to join our leadership team in the Department of Medicine – Pathology Division.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Managing administrative functions including the effective integration and coordination of the clinical services department; scheduling and conducting clinical staff meetings; orienting and mentoring all new Physicians and mid-level providers; ensuring clinical staff is continually trained and supervised; and ensuring all activities of medical staff are coordinated with other operating units of the organization.
  • Setting providers’ schedules including “call” schedule, ensuring distribution of new and revised schedules in a timely fashion to all providers, intake/eligibility supervisors, and Administration.
  • Supervising all providers including performing new hire orientations, conducting peer review process, corrective action counseling, terminations, and approving all requests for leaves of absence, training, special requests, and annual evaluations.
  • Assuming all clinical responsibility in conjunction with the team.
  • Fostering an environment that promotes Quality Assurance and Improvement Programs.
  • Supervising medical students as they rotate through the department.
