Atlantic Health System is seeking a Full Time Clinical Lab Assistant II for our Morris Plains Laboratory to work 3pm - 11pm 5 days per week including every other weekend.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities of Position:
The Clinical Lab Assistant II, Histology/Cytology is responsible for preparing laboratory specimens for testing and analysis including accessioning of surgical and cytology specimens, preparation and distribution of pathological samples or slides for diagnostic procedures, maintenance of pathology laboratory equipment
Primarily supports the histology and/or cytology technologist's duties and processes
Prepare specimens for testing and analysis
Scan/and or data entry of specimen and patient information
Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform instrument maintenance
Troubleshoot any specimen related issues
Replenish test bench supplies as needed
Maintain a clean work environment
Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested
Minimum Education Required:
High School diploma/GED required
Associate's degree in science preferred including chemistry/biological science coursework
Minimum Experience Required:
Knowledge of proper operation of specified equipment and procedures for Histology/Cytology workflow
Experience with H&E Stainers, Tissue Processors, Cyto Prep processors, Embedding Units
Knowledge of medical terminology
