Description

Job Summary

Plans, administers, and directs programs and activities related to the facilities maintenance and plant operations department, as assigned, and will directly be responsible for all aspects of the quality control and safety management programs within the department. Responsible for meeting and exceeding assigned goals, objectives, KPI metrics, and department needs. The leader will have daily interaction with the department leadership, management, and staff and focus on ensuring operational excellence in the delivery of the services.

Job Specific Duties

  • Implement and direct quality control program and monitor compliance.
  • Develop, review, and approve documentation and maintain records, as required.
  • Implement maintenance plans and situational processes related to healthcare engineering operations.
  • Design scope of work documents and bid arrangements for service orders and project work.
  • Facilitate the submittal process for service orders and project work, aligning with original jobsite requirements, and the performance work statement.
  • Provide comprehensive safety management services with a focus on OSHA requirements and regulations.
  • Monitor training, education, and competencies for all staff.
  • Setup in-service learning sessions with partners, service providers, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure implementation of contract documents and plans; actively promoting and supporting elements of quality control and safety at all locations served by department.
  • Inspect and document the receipt of all materials and services to ensure compliance with scope of work.
  • Author quality-related and safety-related documentation (reports, logs, clarifications, processes, etc.); completing required information for department communication in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Provide comments and recommendations pertaining to policies and procedures. Ensure team understanding of processes specific to quality control and safety practices.
  • Provide oversight to any and all subcontractors and project staff, as assigned.
  • Ensure performance with corrective actions and performance improvement plans that may be implemented.
  • Initiate "stop-work" / "stop the line" orders as required to maintain a safe and healthy physical environment. Non-conformance to quality and safety, as established by the hospital or department, will not be accepted.
  • Attend any and all department and System-level meetings as requested.
  • Report and monitor department incidents and workplace injuries. Required to maintain local OSHA 300 logs.
  • Act as subject matter expert related to regulatory compliance efforts (specifically environment of care and life safety requirements).
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with other departments to provide a unified approach to facility management.
  • Maintain a high energy level to ensure team awareness to safety and quality requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in Engineering, Construction, Architecture, or Business
  • OSHA 30 Safety Certification within six months of start date
  • EM 385-1-1 USACE Safety and Health Certification (minimum of 24-hours) within six months of start date
  • 2-4 years project management experience; oversight of construction, project work, and facility repairs of at least $2M annually within various trades and scope
  • 4-7 years facility management experience, specific to management and leadership functions within healthcare engineering operations

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Healthcare certifications, CHC, CHFM, CHSP, or similar preferred.
  • Demonstrated management skills, resulting in the ability to manage departmental and interdepartmental relationships and prioritize time and resources accordingly.
  • Previous P&L experience; managing department budgets, capital planning, and asset management.
  • Computer-related skills with software such as Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, PlanGrid, Smartsheet, TMS, or other similar programs.
  • Team player that is detail-oriented, adaptable, and have direct-level experience in the healthcare physical environment.
  • Fluent in the standards typically associated with environment of care and life safety.
