This Medical Technician position will serve as a Phlebotomist and Hematology Bone Marrow Assistance aligned in Pathology and Medical Laboratory Service located at the Veterans Healthcare system in Redding, CA. Duties will include, but may not be limited to the following: Performs venipuncture procedures and blood culture collection utilizing sterile field techniques during ward rounds at specified times. Venipuncture procedures performed on the wards involve drawing blood from a patient in various states, such as the comatose, disabled, sedated, patients in traction, who may have possible other complicating conditions. Difficult draws and use of specialized collection techniques are a common occurrence. Ensures precise identification of patients by following designated three tier identifi
