Laboratory Assistant III Full Time Rotating Position Summary
Performs routine technical and clerical functions to include specimen registration and billing. Performs specimen receipt and distribution of laboratory specimens. Performs phlebotomy duties as assigned. Will perform CLIA waived laboratory tests, as requested. Will assist in microbiology processing and plating specimens, as requested.
Completes prioritization, receipt, registration and distribution of specimens.
Has responsibility for sendout/reference lab shipping, tracking and billing.
Will perform waived testing, as requested.
Will assist with processing of anatomic pathology specimens including preparation of microscopic tissue slides, staining and specimen management, as requested.
THE LABORATORY ASSISTANT III FULL TIME ROTATING CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE.
MINIMUM EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent required
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Associates degree in laboratory or medical related field from an accredited institution
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 3 years of laboratory experience
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: In addition to above, basic laboratory computer/lab information system experience preferred
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/REGISTRATION: Completion of formal phlebotomy training program and/or national phlebotomy certification through ASCP, ANP, ASPT or similar.
