ResponsibilitiesThe Microbiology Lab is seeking to hire a Senior CLS Specialist to provide support to their Bacteriology section. Primary duties include:
•Perform technical review of all procedures, facilitate quality control and quality assurance activities, and assist with investigation and development of new or modified procedures •Coordinate review of reported results, competency assessment and proficiency testing •Serve as the liaison between the laboratory, infection control and the infectious disease pharmacist •Coordinate safety, competency, and quality assurance and educational programs
Qualifications•Current California Clinical Lab Scientist or Clinical Microbiology license •Must have at least four years of CLS experience (post receiving CLS or CMS license) •Knowledgeable of pathogenesis of microorganisms associated with particular disease states and how laboratory tests can support diagnosis and therapy of infectious diseases in order to interact with physicians, pharmacists and other healthcare personnel •Knowledgeable of infection control practices and use of laboratory tests •Up to date on current regulations and guidelines for microbiology laboratories (e.g. CAP, The Joint Commission, California State, CLIA, CLSI and Cal OSHA) •Must be a team player who enjoys working with a variety of people and personalities •Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills •Recent work experience and technical knowledge of microbial methodologies including cultures, PCR and other molecular techniques is highly desirable
