Center for Fitness and Wellness and Exercise is Medicine Supervisor
This staff position in the Department of Kinesiology will act as a supervisor, up to 40 hours per week, in the Center for Fitness and Wellness, an exercise testing laboratory. Duties include overseeing daily functioning of the center; calibrating/troubleshooting equipment; conducting fitness testing on primarily undergraduate students, as well as lipid and glucose testing; training and supervising undergraduate interns; staff training; debriefing clients; data quality control; collecting fees for services; appointment scheduling; and other administrative functions. This position will also involve coordinating on- and off-campus fitness and wellness outreach activities such as the Exercise is Medicine initiative. Activities associated with outreach could include program planning and evaluation, coordinating and supervising travel, working with undergraduates, campus partners and faculty advisory committees, as well as representing initiatives on campus committees and events.
Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's degree preferred, Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or related field required. Experience preferred in the fitness industry performing clinical exercise testing, wellness coaching, or personal training. ACSM certification preferred; NSCA, ACE, or NASM may be acceptable. This is a 75% full-time equivalency (FTE) job. Will be required to work 9 months per year (August 15-May 15); opportunities for supplemental pay for duties within the department are possible during the summer. Full Penn State benefits included.
