As a Phlebotomist/Lab Assistant, you will be the one who draws blood from Inpatients and Outpatients, collects a variety of other specimen samples as well as label the blood vials that you have filled. You will also be responsible for bringing all blood and specimen samples to the laboratory, perform samples processing and prepare them for testing
Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture on inpatients and outpatients from newborn to adult population.
Perform EKG procedures.
Monitor usage of phlebotomy supplies and prepare order forms as needed to maintain supply inventory.
Receive specimens in Laboratory Information System (Meditech) and prepare them for analysis in the Main Lab or for shipment to Reference Lab.
Sort laboratory reports (manual Lab Requisitions) for delivery to units, physicians and/or medical records.
Monitor usage and supplies for send out tests and process order to the appropriate Reference Lab.
Perform Front Office duties such as answer phones, file requisitions, fax reports and monitor supplies.
Relay laboratory results to physicians and providers by looking it up in the Laboratory Information System (Meditech).
Performs other reasonable duties as required by the Laboratory Supervisor or Director.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Equivalent to/or completion of accredited phlebotomy training program with knowledge of EKG’s and medical terminology desired.
