The Advanced Staff Technologist/Team lead will generally have a higher level of professional oversight responsibilities and will have responsibility for the daily running of a large-scale integrated automated analytical instrument system. The Incumbent will provide oversight responsibilities of a laboratory team and provide technical advice to staff and other health care members and oversee work flow. The incumbent will perform more complex laboratory function, specific targeted laboratory responsibilities or projects such as automation line specialist or new analyzer specialist, or quality control file maintenance. Duties may include, but not limited to: Serves as the primary core lab automation/software, and instrument trainer and proctor for new employees and students. Monitors integrity of automated equipment and takes responsibility for the completion of repairs and training other section staff in instrument maintenance. Ensures that staff are following laboratory tests and procedures as required by accrediting agencies standards and requirements. Provides advisory services to technicians, technologists, and other specialists. Assists in competency assessments and provides training. Recognizes methodology limitations such as, interference, sensitivity, and specificity and considers these when drawing conclusions about the validity of testing results. Consults with healthcare providers on logical protocol to follow in attempting to confirm the diagnosis or risk assessment of a patient. Assists in managing inventory so that all supplies are kept in stock, rotated, not expired and have been quality controlled. Serve as a back-up to the section supervisors and Lead MT to compile data for Quality assurance monitors and daily review of QA tasks.
