The Department of Pathology and Genomic Medicine at Houston Methodist is recruiting two Clinical Informatics Pathologists to join our rapidly growing Informatics team.
The Clinical Informatics Pathologists will primarily focus on informatics and will devote substantial dedicated time to department and institutional informatics projects, and independent and collaborative research in pathology informatics. He/she will work with colleagues and analysts on the Pathology Informatics team to solve department and institutional informatics challenges and oversee the development and implementation of real-time or near real-time analytics solutions to address critical clinical and operational questions by integrated analysis of laboratory and clinical data. The Pathologists will advise analysts and others on clinical decision support, Epic EHR workflow and SCC Soft LIS build design. The successful candidates will participate in our clinical informatics fellowship and pathology residency educational activities. He/she will provide medical director leadership support for the Lab-Information System analyst team and will oversee informatics-related research projects and provide informatics consultation services to pathology colleagues. In addition to Clinical Informatics, the successful candidates will participate in clinical pathology diagnostic service responsibilities based on the individuals’ areas of expertise.
The ideal candidate(s) should have at least 3 years of experience in Pathology Informatics although exceptional candidates finishing their training are also encouraged to apply. Successful candidates must have an MD or MD/PhD degree, have primary board certification in Clinical Pathology (CP or both AP and CP), and be board-eligible/certified in Clinical Informatics. The successful candidate(s) must have or be able to obtain a Texas medical license. HM has a primary academic affiliation with Weill Cornell Medical College, and the Clinical Informatics Pathologists will be recommended for faculty appointment.
