The blood cancer care team at Colorado Blood Cancer Institute (CBCI), a part of the Sarah Cannon Cancer institute at Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center, is committed to providing the best treatment to patients facing blood cancers such as leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. Position Summary:  This position supports the mission of Presbyterian/St Luke’s Medical Center of optimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person.  The Cellular Therapeutics (CT) Medical Technologist (Med Tech) performs therapeutic apheresis and cellular collection/harvest and processing for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in compliance with The Joint Commission, FDA, & Foundation for Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) standards.  Basic patient care includes accessing central lines and monitoring vital signs.  The Med Tech functions within the philosophy, policies and procedure of Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center.  The Med Tech must continuously strive to improve through formal and informal education.  When need arises, will perform other duties as assigned by the CT Manager or Lead Tech.

Position Requirements:
 
Licensure/Certification/Registration: 
  • Medical Technologist certification by one of the following: ASCP, NCA, or HEW (ISCLT). 
  • BLS through the American Heart Association required.
Education/Experience: 
  • B.A. or B.S. in Medical Technology or related field (Chemistry, Biology, etc.) preferred.
  • Experience in phlebotomy, therapeutic apheresis, stem cell collection, bone marrow harvest, cell processing/cryopreservation is desired but not necessary. 
Special Qualifications: 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other health care team members. 
  • Ability to manage a team and work with others within a team to ensure quality patient care. 
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
