Position Summary:


We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Temporary Sr. Research Coordinator. 

The Sr. Research Coordinator will work closely with Clinical Research Operations and NYU Center for Biospecimen Research and Development (CBRD) leadership in a key initiative to collect fresh blood samples from participants who volunteer to be part of a COVID biospecimen repository.

The Sr. Research Coordinator will be recruiting volunteers from Emergency Departments in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Long Island campuses. Research blood will be collected longitudinally from participants who are admitted for an inpatient stay at each campus.

The Sr. Research Coordinator will be responsible for administering consent to potential volunteers.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to IRB approved protocol, coordinate protocol related research procedures.
  • Collect, process and ship laboratory specimens, as per protocol.
  • As applicable, oversee the submission of necessary documents required by the NYU Institutional Board (IRB), and any other appropriate parties in order to obtain approval to conduct human subjects research.
  • Ensures the accurate execution of research protocols in accordance with Good Clinical Practices, HIPAA, and all required obligations to patient/subject, Principal Investigator, Research Team and sponsor and other appropriate agencies.
  • Aware of study regulatory status. Administers informed consent and ensures that the patient/participant understands what is being required of them. Reminds participants of upcoming blood draws.
  • Under the Research Nurse, oversees the quality assurance (QA) and data integrity of the study, as well as assist with resolution of data query requests.
  • Implement and maintain quality control procedures. Verifies accuracy of research data and monitors data quality control.
  • Responsible for managing the recruitment process for the study at assigned location(s). This may include gathering information from the medical records and directly scheduling a visit with the participant.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of four years relevant experience in coordinating clinical/research studies or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Proficiency in using Microsoft office applications such as Word, Excel. Familiar with internet applications. Effective oral, written communication, interpersonal skills. Strong understanding and knowledge base of coordination requirements associated with clinical research. Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems, ability to work well under pressure.
