What You Will Be Responsible For:

 

  • Provides on-site supervision of all AdventHealth Hendersonville hospital support staff personnel and oversees support staff processes.
  • Maintains appropriate staffing for AdventHealth Hendersonville hospital support staff functions through scheduling work assignments and tasks.
  • Responsible for AdventHealth Hendersonville hospital laboratory support staff to include interviewing, coordination of training, competency assessment, evaluations, accountabilities, and progressive discipline.
  • Establishes policies and procedures for AdventHealth Hendersonville hospital support staff functions and ensures compliance with established processes.
  • Ensures adequate staffing for the AdventHealth Hendersonville hospital OPT front desk, IPT and OPT phlebotomy and the specimen processing area.
  • Serves as resource for AdventHealth Hendersonville hospital support staff and other lab staff for phlebotomy, specimen processing, reference lab and front desk.
  • Provides oversight of specimen collection, processing, and laboratory test performance for AdventHealth Hendersonville hospital in-house phlebotomy and point of care users.
  • Oversees inventory for AdventHealth Hendersonville hospital in-house specimen collection supplies and other general lab supplies in accordance with departmental needs and financial stewardship.
  • Provides management of AdventHealth Hendersonville hospital Specimen Processing activities and area.
  • Prepares and maintains procedures for AdventHealth Hendersonville hospital reference Lab, phlebotomy, front desk and specimen processing.
  • Oversees the AdventHealth Hendersonville hospital Reference Lab specimen processing and result reporting.
  • Ensures timely processing of AdventHealth Hendersonville hospital Reference Lab specimens and follow-up requirements from the Reference Laboratory.
  • Ensures Reference Lab optimal processes and current education for entire AdventHealth Hendersonville hospital team.
  • Prepares and maintains AdventHealth Hendersonville hospital in-house Point of Care program and policies to include CAP Compliance.
  • Provides technical oversight of AdventHealth Hendersonville hospital Point of Care instrumentation and methods for in-house departments.
  • Provides support for implementation of new AdventHealth Hendersonville hospital POC testing in-house; coordinates required correlation studies with main lab instrumentation and other Quality Assurance activities.
  • Assists in training and competency assessment for AdventHealth Hendersonville hospital POC users; ensures compliance with regulatory standards and communicates variances to appropriate AdventHealth Hendersonville hospital leadership.
  • Evaluates AdventHealth Hendersonville hospital personnel in accordance with performance standards in point-of-care testing, including but not limited to hematology, biochemistry, serology, blood gas and phlebotomy.
  • Review Quality Control, patient results, and other Quality Assurance documentation; coordinate proficiency testing performance and results for AdventHealth Hendersonville hospital POC testing.
  • Responsible for supply management for AdventHealth Hendersonville hospital POC including inventory, lot number tracking, par levels, and product selection in accordance with facility and corporate initiatives.
  • Oversees AdventHealth Hendersonville hospital point of care interfaces, middleware, and other IT functionality, in collaboration with the Laboratory Information Systems Supervisor.
  • Represents the AdventHealth Hendersonville Laboratory department in a manner consistent with supervisory responsibility in all patient, employee, visitor, and physician interactions.
  • Actively participates in performance improvement initiatives for AdventHealth Hendersonville Laboratory Services and as a laboratory representative for interdepartmental programs, as appropriate.
  • Maintains current knowledge of AdventHealth Hendersonville Laboratory Services and hospital policies, CAP, Joint Commission, CLIA, and other applicable regulatory requirements.

 

 

Qualifications

What You Will Need:

  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Moderate computer skills

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • A.S. in Medical Laboratory Technology or B.S. degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related science
  • Five years clinical laboratory experience

 

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

Current MT, MLS, MLT or CLT certification with approved national registry organization (ASCP or equivalent)

 

Job Summary:

Oversight of Phlebotomy, Support Staff and Point of Care functions.  Consultative and Operational oversight of Point of Care program.
