You Will Be Responsible For:

• Demonstrates collaboration and teamwork in managing departmental workflow, following all department and hospital policies and procedures, ensuring the highest possible quality standards.
• Promotes a strong departmental team through peer interviewing process, and effective orientation and competency assessment of new and existing staff.
• Ensures departmental staffing schedule provides adequate coverage and within budget requirements. Good time management, and that casual overtime is avoided.
• Ensures departmental supply levels are maintained in efforts to reduce waste and also avoid expenses associated with “rush” or special orders.

• Ensures all departmental regulatory and safety standards are maintained at all times.
• Effectively troubleshoots software and instrument problems needed to correct issues and / or reports them up to the leadership team.

• Ensures new testing procedures and instrumentation are researched, planned and implemented as needed or requested.

What You Will Need:

• Bachelors Degree - Science degree meeting state licensure requirements (64B3-5.002)
• 5 years’ experience required at a Technologist level and 1 year in a leadership role.
• State of Florida – Medical Technologist (MT) and Supervisory License in specialty (-ies) of responsibility.
• Preferred: Blood Bank Supervisor Experience

Job Summary:

The Laboratory Technical Supervisor performs laboratory testing in accordance with the Division of Clinical Laboratory Standards and pursuant to Florida Department of Professional Regulation, Chapter 64B3-13.002. Oversees the day-to-day operations and competencies of staff in assigned specialty (-ies) of the lab. Ensures compliance of all regulatory requirements and quality measures. Oversees duties performed be Medical Technologists and ensures that Medical Technicians are supervised as required. Perform competency validated laboratory procedures ordered by appropriate Medical Staff and Physician. Assumes responsibilities for the laboratory operations in the absence of upper management as needed.
