Work Hours/Shift:

Full Time, Day Shift

 

You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Demonstrates the knowledge and ability to apply occupational health regulation principles and practices.  Strives to keep current regarding Federal and State regulations affecting occupational health and workers’ compensation practices.
  • Assists or Performs? With pre-employment health assessments and screenings (Review of Employee Health program, color blind testing, medical health assessment, Tuberculin screening, Lab screening and Nicotine testing) prospective employee’s first day of employment, arranging for physician’s follow-up to occur on all questionable pre-employment health assessments.  In addition, proficient in the collection of laboratory specimens for Urine and Blood for employment screening.
  • Demonstrates the ability to administer medication provided in the Employee Health Department as per scope of practice and license provisions.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of hospital/departmental policies and procedures regarding Employee Health and Workers’ Compensation.
  • Assists in maintaining Employee Health records accurately and completely and takes appropriate measures to promote confidentiality of this information.  Demonstrates an ability to assemble and maintain records appropriately in order to increase overall efficiency to maximum potential, while documenting in a clear, concise and objective manner.
  • Monitor’s Employee Health records for compliance with vaccination requirements per hospital policy.
  • Assist in the organization of employee files, records and pertinent occupational health statistics to facilitate easy access and analysis.
Qualifications

What You Will Need:

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Candidate must also be proficient and possess current working knowledge in the use of MS Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Internet.
  • Must be proficient in the English language.
  • Must be able to adapt easily to changes in the work environment. 
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, inter-personal and organizational skills are also required.
  • Job duties require self-motivation and persistence; along with strict, self-imposed time management and using discernment when prioritizing projects and daily workload.  Seeks further education and personal growth
  • Phlebotomy

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be certified from an accredited Medical Assistant school

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

  • Minimum 1 year working experience within the medical/healthcare field with experience communicating with all levels of staff.  

CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

  • American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologist (AMT), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), National HealthCare Association (NHA), or American Medical Certification Association (AMCA) Certification is required to be active prior to employment and must be maintained throughout employment. American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA) Certification will be accepted for employees who began employment prior to June 30, 2016, but the certification must not lapse or else is required to then obtain AAMA, AMT, NCCT, NHA, or AMCA Certification
  • BLS/CPR certification is required.

 

Job Summary:

The Employee Health Medical Assistant (MA) will assist the Employee Health and Workers Compensation Regional Lead to promote and provide a variety of occupational health care services. The Employee Health Medical Assistant (MA) will assist employees in meeting specific health care requirements and recommendations as established by hospital policy and governmental regulations. Under the direction of the Employee Health and Worker’s Compensation Regional Lead, this position will strive to deliver safe and effective care as defined by AdventHealth standards of care and is consistent with the therapies of other disciplines. Responsible for helping practice and physician achieve all meaningful use measures. Demonstrates effective use and support of the AdventHealth Service Standards, within the hospital and clinic settings.
