Medical Laboratory Scientist 2 - VUMC Diagnostic Molecular Infectious Disease Laboratories

Description $10,000.00 Signing Bonus and Relocation Stipend Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking to hire a Medical Laboratory Scientist, whom will report to the Team Leader of Molecular Infectious Diseases (MIDL) Laboratories and will have overall diagnostic bench-work responsibilities with supporting patient testing in MIDL; including real-time PCR, multiplex PCR, and sequencing. Job duties include routine clinical molecular testing; assisting with development, validation, and implementation of new clinical tests; equipment maintenance; quality improvements; and training of MLS students, staff, pathology residents, and clinical fellows. The Medical Laboratory Scientist 2 will perform routine clinical pathology testing under occasional guidance in a team atmosphere with the authority, responsibility, and accountability for accurate performance of laboratory test methodologies utilized in the diagnosis and treatment of patients, as well as evaluation of the patient's response to treatment. The Medical Laboratory Scientist 2 applies their clinical knowledge to achieve accurate clinical test results that lead to quality patient care outcomes. These tests are used in the diagnosis and treatment of patients and the evaluation of the patient's response to treatment.
