The Department of Pathology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is pleased to announce a new recruitment for a Director of Gynecologic Pathology Section. We are inviting applications from qualified candidates at Associate or full Professor ranks for a full-time, tenure earning/tenured position through the Department of Pathology, School of Medicine. The candidates should have an M.D. or D.O. or M.D. Ph.D., Board Certification in Anatomic Pathology, and be eligible for a license to practice medicine in Alabama. Subspecialty expertise in GYN is required. Expertise in Perinatal pathology will be favorably considered.

 

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is an outstanding tertiary care institution currently processing over 60,000 surgical pathology specimens per year. The surgical pathology services in the Division of Anatomic Pathology includes approximately 25 faculty members with expertise encompassing the entire spectrum of subspecialty areas. Faculty are noted for multidisciplinary, academic productivity and national leadership. A strong diverse research portfolio in translational investigations is conducted by the faculty along with a quality teaching program.

 

A pre-employment background investigation is performed on candidates selected for employment. In addition, physicians and other clinical faculty candidates who will be employed by the University of Alabama Health Services Foundation (UAHSF) or other UAB Medicine entities must successfully complete a pre-employment drug and nicotine screen to be hired.
