Prepares solutions, labels tubes and specimen containers, collects blood, nasal, and throat specimens and performs simple tests under supervision. Performs routine technical and clerical functions. May operate simple lab equipment under supervision. Processes anatomic pathology and cytology specimens. Obtains blood specimens for all age groups serviced. Assists pathologists as needed. Uses, maintains and cleans laboratory equipment and uses protective equipment to protect form exposure to chemical, radiation and infectious hazards. Must be knowledgeable of emergency procedures. Performs phlebotomist duties as assigned.
Required: High school diploma or GED Certificate required. Preferred: Completion of phlebotomy program
Required: Ability to complete blood draws and nasal or throat swabbing, and clinical laboratory sample processing independently in any department providing Preferred: 2 years of laboratory experience
Full Time Day Shifts, including rotating weekend hours
Minimum of 2 years hospital experience required for sign on eligibility
