JOB SUMMARY:
As part of the Vanderbilt Institute es, and contributes to research publication by conducting literature searchesof Imaging Science, Imaging Research Specialist I, under supervision, will run experiments and record results for functional MRI, electroencephalogram (EEG) and near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) studies. Participate in the development and implementation of fMRI research studies.

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Recruitment of human subjects
  • Maintain study requirements by the IRB
  • Assist with study visits
  • Data organization and preparation

Additional Key Elements/ Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Under supervision, run experiments, and record results for functional MRI (fMRI), electroencephalogram (EEG) and near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) studies.
  • Operation of wide variety of scientific experiments involving detailed protocols
  • Conduct experimental design/analysis. Write imaging protocol and oversee its implementation.
  • Informed Consent. Obtain informed consent and follow IRB guidelines.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of fMRI research studies
  • Assist in the design of the study including procedures, protocols and quality control measures
  • Assist in the design of study or survey tools
  • Assist in the development of data collection methods and/or databases
  • Prepare educational tools for use with the study
  • Abstract and interpret pertinent information from medical/technical literature
  • Screen subjects for the study. Prepare subjects for being in the MRI equipment, and answer questions. Conduct study while subject in MRI.
  • Analyze data acquired during the study.
  • Contribute to research publications.
  • Conduct literature and library searches and oversee data collection programs
  • Assist in developing reports of results, graphs, charts, tables, etc. of research findings
  • Assist principal investigator in preparation of grant applications and contract proposals
